Ways to boost co-operation with Linux Professional Institute looked at
TUNIS, Dec. 17, 2009 (TAP) - Mr. Jim Lacey, Board Chairman of Linux Professional Institute (LPI), specialised in software and computer applications, commended Tunisia's progress at the level of infrastructure and economic platform, making of the country a pole of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in Africa and a privileged destination for investments, he noted.
Mr. Jim Lacey conferred, on Wednesday in Tunis, with Minister of Education and Training Hatem Ben Salem on ways to strengthen co-operation in training of educators in freeware.
Mr. Ben Salem reviewed the ministry's strategy designed to make the most of ICTs to disseminate pedagogical contents. He expressed wish to see co-operation develop with LPI.
Mr. Lacey stressed LPI's readiness to present a training programme in the area of freeware for to Tunisian educators.
Co-operation with the LPI was also the focal point of the talk that Minister of Higher Education Lazhar Bououni had, on Thursday, with Mr. Jim Lacey.
Emphasis was placed on co-operation in the sectors of qualification training in information technology and telecommunications for students of engineering colleges in Tunisia.
